Jonathan Dimmock Concert: March 3, 4:00p
Jonathan Dimmock’s organ recital on March 3 is titled “Chorales and Dances”. The chorales include historic works by Sweelinck and Mendelssohn based on hymns. They also include two new pieces: the first work in the program, a prelude on “Lift high the cross” by Christopher Hoh, a composer who lives in Arlington, and a fascinating minimalist piece by the Dutch composer, Bert Matter, on “Von Gott will ich nicht lassen”. The dances include two arrangements by Jonathan, a medley of Renaissance dances and a transcription of Copland’s “Hoe-down” from “Rodeo”. Several Bach works will round out the program!
