We look forward to you joining us for one of our weekly services! During that time, we join as a community for a time of worship.

  • Worship is a participatory experience. We invite you to join in as we praise God through singing hymns and enjoying anthems and other music sung by our choir.

  • Our prayer during Sunday services allows us to acknowledge our dependence on Christ for building his kingdom and in our personal lives. Our entire service is a prayer, and we ask God to intercede for our specific needs during the Prayers of the People.

  • The teaching and preaching time seeks to communicate God’s Truth in compelling, relevant ways. Each service, we pray that God blesses the preaching of the word that it might penetrate our hearts and impact our lives in the week ahead. We follow the Revised Common Lectionary according to the use of The Episcopal Church.

  • We give generously as an act of worship, not under compulsion of any kind but out of a joyful heart. We have a chance to make a financial offering, but also offer ourselves in worship of God each Sunday; and members of the parish bring forth offerings of bread and wine that will be used for Holy Eucharist.

  • We celebrate Holy Eucharist at most of our services. During Holy Eucharist, all baptized Christians are invited to come forward and receive the Bread and Wine. If you are not comfortable receiving, or you or your child is not yet Baptized, we invite you to come forward and receive a blessing.

  • The St. John’s community is a diverse, warm and inviting group of people just like you. Let’s worship together.

FAQs

  • Street parking is available on Elmwood and Boston avenues around our church, as well as on Rivermont Avenue and in the old Bank parking lot Sunday mornings. We save spots closest to 205 Elmwood for visitors and those who need handicap access.

  • We offer nursery for infants and toddlers from 9:20a to the end of our 10:30a service Sunday mornings during the program year. K-3 students are invited to children’s chapel, leaving before the gospel reading and returning at the Peace. Learn more here. We also offer choir for our children starting around second grade.

  • We have a robust Sunday School and Youth group at St. John’s: find out the latest here. Our young people 6th-12th grade are invited to join an acolyte team & serve at the altar, continue to sing in the youth choir, or join their families for the service.

  • We do not have a dress code. People tend to dress more formally for our morning services , but please come as you are!

  • We welcome guests and visitors at our announcements but we will not single you out or call on you. If you’d like to hear from us we ask you to fill out a visitor card so we can be in touch!
